I think that in the beggining of the book the author doesn't want you to know everything. If she told you everything she knew about the girls there would be no story left except for playing basketball. Also at the beggining if you knew everything you wouldn't want to keep on reading because she has basically told you the entire story. Even though this story is pretty straight forward about basketball and how the girls came together as a team the author still wanted a little mystery for you to keep on wanting to read.
i think that the auther started of the book without giving the names on the caracters becuase it made the book seem more like a story and that also made the story more believeable. i also agree with Kelly.
